Ingredients

  • 1 box 16 oz angel food cake mix (just the dry mix)
  • 1 can 21 oz pie filling (cherry, blueberry, lemon, or your favorite flavor)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • 9×13-inch baking dish or nonstick cake pan
  • Oven
  • Cooling rack
  • Nonstick cooking spray (optional)

Method

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, pour in the entire box of dry angel food cake mix.
Step 4: Add 1 can (21 oz) of your favorite pie filling (like cherry, blueberry, or lemon).
Step 5: Gently mix the ingredients together using a spatula or wooden spoon. Do not overmix—the batter should stay light and fluffy.
Step 6: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 8: Remove from the oven and place the dish on a cooling rack. Let it cool completely before cutting.
Step 9: Slice and serve. Add optional toppings like whipped cream, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit if desired.

                    Notes

This recipe is incredibly flexible! You can use any flavor of pie filling you like—cherry, blueberry, lemon, or even pineapple. Just make sure to use only one box of angel food cake mix and one can of pie filling—no eggs, oil, or water needed. The magic happens in the oven! It’s important not to overmix; gently fold the filling into the dry mix to keep the batter airy. This cake will puff up beautifully while baking and settle slightly as it cools. Let it cool completely before slicing for the cleanest cuts.
