  • 3 large green bell peppers cut into 1/2-inch strips
  • 2 large onions cut into wedges
  • 9 ounces frozen potato rounds
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Large oven-proof skillet or frying pan
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons

Method

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Start by cutting the frankfurters into 1-inch pieces. Then, slice the green bell peppers into strips and cut the onions into wedges. Make sure you have everything ready before cooking. This makes the process smoother and quicker.
Sauté the Vegetables
  1. In a large oven-proof skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the green bell peppers and onions Cook them for about 8 minutes until they’re tender but still slightly crisp. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Add Frankfurters and Seasoning
  1. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the frankfurter pieces. Then, add the white vinegar, water, caraway seeds, sugar, salt, and black pepper Mix everything well so that the frankfurters are evenly coated with the seasonings.
Add Potato Rounds
  1. Arrange the frozen potato rounds evenly over the top of the mixture in the skillet. Make sure they cover the whole surface for even cooking.
Bake the Dish
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy. Make sure to turn the potatoes halfway through baking to ensure even crisping.
Serve and Enjoy
  1. Once the dish is done baking, carefully remove it from the oven. Give everything a gentle toss so that the flavors are mixed evenly. Serve hot and enjoy your comforting meal!

Notes

Make sure you use an oven-proof skillet so you can easily transition from stovetop to oven without needing extra cookware.
If you don’t have one, you can transfer the ingredients to a baking dish before placing it in the oven. Additionally,
the dish can be customized to suit your tastes by adding more or fewer vegetables, depending on your preference.
