Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup plant-based milk almond, oat, or soy
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons melted vegan dark chocolate for extra richness

Equipment

  • High-speed blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Serving bowls

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Avocados
  1. I cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop out the flesh into the blender or food processor.
Step 2: Add the Flavors
  1. I add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, plant-based milk, and a pinch of salt to the blender.
Step 3: Blend Until Creamy
  1. I blend everything until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, I add a little more plant milk until I get the perfect texture.
Step 4: Chill and Serve
  1. I transfer the mousse to serving bowls and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before serving. This step makes the texture even silkier.

Notes

I always use perfectly ripe avocados. If they are overripe or have a strong flavor, the mousse can taste bitter.
